A womanising sergeant (Dean Martin) and a bumbling soldier (Jerry Lewis) get into all sorts of trouble in the barracks, the former using the latter to get out of work and have fun. Jerry Lewis is the face of the smile par excellence. With his extraordinary facial expressions and incredible expressiveness, he has entertained audiences for over half a century. The turning point for Lewis came, by chance, in 1946, when he met a self-produced singer, a certain Dean Martin, nine years his senior. By a twist of fate, the two found themselves on stage at the same time by mistake. As in the best movie scripts, the funniest and most famous couple in the United States in the 1940s and 1950s was born: Lewis and Martin.
