Reporter Clem Rogers (Douglas Fairbanks Jr.) is always on the lookout for a ‘big story’. However, he is eventually thrown into trouble when he is confronted with news of a murder involving his fiancée Jane Atwill (Jobyna Ralston), daughter of a mayoral candidate (Edwards Davis). Clem seeks to help Jane prove her innocence and the two of them begin to investigate… Frank Capra had created a big city for this film, with its smart journalists and greedy bosses, a representation that anticipated the development of mass media. Many of the elements created for this and subsequent Frank Capra films were reinvented decades later and, with minor differences, taken up by media such as radio and television.
