Angela Chiaromonte, heiress to a vast Italian estate, is left penniless and homeless when her father dies. Her half-sister, the Marquise Di Mola, destroys the will and divides the property between her two daughters. Giovanni Severini, Angela’s fiancé, goes off to war in Africa and promises to marry her when he returns. When she learns of his death, Angela enters a convent. Severini, taken prisoner, escapes to Italy where he meets Angela again… Religious melodrama filmed in Italy by Henry King, with Vesuvius erupting and Lilian Gish as the star.
