The word ‘tombeau’ refers to a collection in memory of a dear or remarkable person. The tribute to the Russian film director Aleksandr Medvedkin (1900-1989) consists of a prologue and six posthumous letters, divided into two groups – ‘Le royaume des ombres’ and ‘Les ombres du royaum’ – separated by a tribute to the cat Guillaume-en-Egypte, lying on a keyboard while listening to music by Federico Mompou. The ‘tombeau’ includes extensive archive material from Medvedkin’s films, as well as interviews with collaborators and people who knew him.
