Toni Lebrun decides to leave her aunt and uncle’s bakery in Vienna to pursue her dream of an opera career in Budapest. She soon discovers a reality quite different from the one she had dreamed of, but thanks to her friend Rosa, a wardrobe mistress who fell into disgrace after the war and who occasionally indulges in nostalgic trips back in time, she lands in the beautiful golden world of Monte Carlo, where she finally finds love.
