The great John Barrymore in one of his most dazzling performances. The Beloved Rogue tells the story of the 15th century poet and adventurer François Villon, who cunningly serves King Louis XI while giving priority to the reasons of his heart. A sumptuous show, where every element is in its place, with shots full of actors and pathos. There are other versions of Ruldolf Frimi’s work that inspired this film, the most famous being Michael Curtiz’s The Vagabond King.
