SYMPHONIA N. 34 FOURTH YEAR

Il Trio di Trieste

The TRIO DI TRIESTE was active between 1933 and 1995. In the history of music, it was the first trio with a stable formation to be formed, when its members were barely twelve years old. For more than half a century, with the only change being the replacement of the cellist (in 1961 Amedeo Baldovino took over from Libero Lana), it performed without interruption in every country in the world, from Europe to America, from the Middle East to the Far East, from Africa to Australia. He has given more than 2,500 concerts, including 70 in Milan (30 at La Scala), 50 in Rome and Florence, 40 in Vienna, Munich, Basel and Zurich, 30 in London, Berlin, Paris and Buenos Aires. They were also regularly invited to the most important international festivals. The Trio di Trieste has made numerous recordings for Deutsche Grammophon and Decca. It has been honoured with numerous international prizes and awards (Grand Prix du Disque, San Giusto d’Oro, Viotto d’Oro, Microfono d’Argento, Diapason, etc.). Renato Zanettovich played with a Guarnieri del Gesù and Amedeo Baldovino with a ‘Mara’ Stradivarius of 1711.
