Tessie (Gloria Swanson) works in a large department store and lives in the flat of her fiancé Jim (Tom Moore), a mechanic with ambitious plans. By chance, she is spotted by the owner of a posh department store, who offers her the chance to pretend to be a countess to attract customers…
One of Gloria Swanson’s best-known films, assisted by a director of the calibre of Allan Dwan, with whom she had a happy collaboration after her long association with Cecil B. DeMille.
