Two children go on a magical dream adventure to find the blue bird that represents happiness. With the help of a fairy, the children become able to see the invisible world, the spirit of everyday things like water, bread and fire. Accompanied by the souls of their pets, after many adventures in fantastic places, the children discover that the bird is actually much closer to them than they had suspected.Based on the story by the Belgian Maurice Maeterlinck, winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1911, which is linked in many ways to ‘The Wizard of Oz’, Tourneur’s imaginative film is the first and most faithful version of ‘L’oiseau bleu’, which has since been brought to the big screen many times, including in an animated version…
