On 6 December 2013, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Kenya’s independence, the Solisti Veneti performed at the Oshwal Centre in Nairobi, in a wonderful concert organised by the Italian Embassy.
Claude Scimone, accompanied by the famous chamber music group, which has been in operation since 1959, performed arias by Vivaldi, Tartini, Rossini, Pasculli, Verdi, Arban, Monti and Morricone, including a poignant version of ‘Nuovo Cinema Paradiso’.
Claudio Scimone – whose career was crowned with thousands of concerts and awards, including three ‘Grand Prix du Disque’ from the Académie Charles Cros in Paris, a Grammy Award from Los Angeles and the title of ‘Chevalier grand-croix of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic’ with a gold Medal for Merit in Culture and Art awarded by the President of the Italian Republic – continued his activity without respite until his death on 6 September 2018 in his home town of Padua.
