During the American Civil War, supplies for the lands of the Far West are transported by caravans. Fusilier Clint (Gary Cooper) is part of the escort of one of them, about to leave, but the sheriff wants to arrest him. In order to make him desist from this intention, Clint tries to pity him by pretending to have married the young Frenchwoman Felice, who is also determined to undertake the journey. The trick succeeds, but that simulated love, in the course of the long and dangerous journey, will turn into a real feeling. A great performance by Cooper, an enterprising cowboy, a bit of a charmer, capable of stealing the heart of the beautiful French girl and of getting by even in the most critical situations, in a pleasant western centred on the theme of the journey and in which ample space is dedicated to the relationship between Clint and Felice in hostile territory.
