With ‘Faces of Children’ (‘Visages d’enfants’), an extraordinary film about childhood, Jacques Feyder proved to be one of the best European directors. He wrote the story himself – about a child dealing with the death of his mother and his father’s new marriage – with the help of his wife, actress Françoise Rosay, who also assisted him on the set. The Two Mothers allows us a rare and precious experience, that of entering the depths of a child’s world and observing it with participation and understanding.
