The American pianist Carla Bley (Oakland, California, 1936), at the eighth edition of the Estival Jazz, Piazza Riforma in Lugano. With her on stage: Steve Swallow (one of the first jazz double bassists who switched to electric bass), Wayne Kantz (guitarist famous for his collaborations with Billy Cobham, Michael Brecker, Christ Potter, Steely Dan), Victor Lewis (Stan Getz’s historic drummer), Larry Willis (pianist who was later known for his forays into fusion and the avant-garde) and, on percussion, Don Alias (who would be much sought after as a studio musician by artists such as Sting, Joni Mitchell and Miles Davis).
