Clara Calhoun is an attractive beautician who runs an illegal gambling ring out of the back of her shop. Not having enough money, she and her lover, the gangster Duke Martin, organise an armoured car robbery on payday. But things go wrong: a policeman and Duke’s partner are injured. In order to escape, Duke uses the innocent Steve Ryan as a shield and steals his car.
