Little orphan Ann is lonely and friendless. Needing affection, she seeks the company of children of her own age to play with, but is constantly rejected. When the orphanage where she lives is burned by a fire, she is adopted by a couple who have previously lost their daughter. During her teenage years, she falls in love with Jimmy Vance (Robert Harron) but, due to an unfortunate misunderstanding, their relationship deteriorates when the girl believes she has accidentally shot a neighbour… This film, directed by Lloyd Ingraham and an uncredited David W. Griffith, who was officially only the producer and writer, stands out for its touches of gripping levity as well as for its great emotional strength.
